Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly engaged, energetic, and visionary educator to help relaunch and grow our middle school program. This regular 1.0 FTE position begins with an exciting opportunity to teach 6th grade in a self‑contained model for the 2026–27 school year, with a planned transition into a single‑subject middle school role over the following three years as the program expands.
As the middle school program grows, the successful candidate will be expected to hold or obtain at least one middle‑school appropriate endorsement in science, mathematics, language arts, or social studies, aligned with program needs and grade‑level expansion. This role is ideal for an adaptable educator who is enthusiastic about program‑building, interdisciplinary collaboration, and growing into a specialized middle school teaching assignment over time.
The mission of Tumalo Community School is rooted in the natural beauty of Central Oregon and the cohesive strength of our community: to empower students to thrive through experiential learning and achieve success through academic excellence. Our middle school program will live this mission every day through outdoor recreation, place‑based experiences, and rigorous, engaging instruction that extends well beyond the classroom walls and into the incredible landscape surrounding Tumalo, Oregon.
If you are passionate about middle school learners, excited by program development, and energized by teaching in a community that values creativity, flexibility, and the outdoors, we want to meet you.
Come help us reimagine middle school—Tumalo style.
