JOB SUMMARY
The High School Pastor provides spiritual leadership, vision, and pastoral care for the high school ministry at Westside Church. This role is responsible for cultivating a thriving, Christ-centered community where students are known, discipled, and equipped to follow Jesus. Through teaching, relational investment, leadership development, and team building, the High School Pastor leads both students and volunteers toward spiritual growth and active participation in the life of the Church.
In partnership with the Youth & Family Pastor and Youth team, this role helps shape the overall discipleship pathway for students while championing the unique needs and culture of the high school ministry.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSMinimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in youth ministry or pastoral leadership
- Demonstrated gifting in teaching, discipleship, and spiritual leadership
- Proven ability to build and lead healthy volunteer teams
- Strong relational and pastoral care skills with students and families
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Availability for a non-traditional schedule including Sundays (9:00am–12:00pm required) and weekday evenings
Additional
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in ministry, theology, or related field
- Experience in a large church (1000+ attendance) or multi-service environment
- Background in pastoral care, counseling, or spiritual formation
- Experience developing leaders and building ministry systems
- Familiarity with Planning Center or similar church management systems
High School Ministry Leadership & Vision: 20%
- Champion the vision, culture, and spiritual direction of the high school ministry
- Create environments where students can encounter Jesus, build community, and grow in their faith
- Align high school ministry with the broader vision of Westside Church
Sunday Morning Student Ministry Leadership: 20%
- Be present in the Student Center for the full Sunday morning window (9:00am–12:00pm)
- Oversee and assist (as needed) in the 11:00am youth service, ensuring a safe, engaging, and spiritually impactful environment
- Support volunteer leaders, student engagement, and overall flow of the morning
- Help create a welcoming, relational atmosphere before, during, and after services
Teaching & Discipleship: 15%
- Regularly teach in high school environments (Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings)
- Oversee and develop curriculum and teaching strategy
- Equip small group leaders to disciple students effectively
- Model a lifestyle of spiritual maturity, prayer, and biblical leadership
Weekly High School Services, Events & Camps: 15%
- Lead and oversee High School Sunday PM gatherings (5:00–9:30pm)
- Collaborate on camps, retreats, and key ministry events
Relational & Pastoral Care: 15%
- Build consistent, meaningful relationships with students
- Provide pastoral care and support for students and families
- Be present at key student moments (events, games, milestones, crises as appropriate)
Volunteer Leadership & Development: 10%
- Recruit, train, and shepherd adult and student leaders
- Build a healthy, engaged volunteer culture rooted in discipleship
Team Participation & Administrative Duties: 5%
- Attend all Youth, Generations, and Westside staff meetings and events
- Participate in Staff Connect, staff prayer, and church-wide initiatives
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with staff and families
