Role Overview

This World Language assignment offers a unique opportunity to establish and grow a program that reflects the interests and assets of the school community. La Pine High School seeks an educator who can thoughtfully design and implement a comprehensive program from the ground up. Instruction should emphasize the development of students’ reading and writing skills in the target language, along with building meaningful cultural understanding and global awareness.

Definition

The Classroom Teacher will motivate, assist and guide students, including their prescribed instruction, discipline, safety and health while under the supervision of the school. The Classroom Teacher reports to the school principal and will lead each student toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, physical, emotional, and psychological growth.

Essential Job Functions
  • Identify the needs of individual students by continuous assessment of their abilities.
  • Use identified student needs to plan instruction.
  • Write instructional plans.
  • Implement instructional plans using a variety of appropriate methods and materials.
  • Manage the classroom to create optimal learning conditions.
  • Apply learning theory to meet the needs of students.
  • Evaluate and report student progress.
  • Assist with the planning and conduction of parent conferences.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Provide plans for and supervise educational assistants.
  • Supervise students in and out of the classroom.
  • Initiate and maintain communication with colleagues.
  • Assist in the assessment of building-level needs and planning required to meet those needs.
  • Attend meetings and serve on committees as directed.
  • Fulfill all other related duties as assigned or assumed.
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily indoors in a classroom setting, with occasional outdoor supervision, school activities, or field trips. The position requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and frequent movement. The role may involve lifting or moving instructional materials. Exposure to moderate noise levels and a range of student behaviors is common. Participation in meetings, events, conferences, and additional responsibilities outside the regular instructional day may be required.
