Position Overview
Part‑time instructor for the Paramedicine Program (AAS‑Paramedicine) at Central Oregon Community College.
Position Type:
Part‑time Instructor – non‑represented and non‑benefited.

Location:
COCC campuses (four campuses).
FLSA Status:
Exempt, Learned Professional.
The Paramedicine Program seeks a qualified individual to provide instruction in the first and second year curriculum leading to an AAS‑Paramedicine degree. The instructor directs classroom, lab, internship, and clinical instruction and evaluates student performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide instruction in Paramedicine curriculum, including EMT, advanced EMT, Oregon EMT‑intermediate, paramedic courses, and related classes.
- Deliver lecture, lab, internship, and clinical instruction, including individual conference time to assess student progress.
- Cooperate with the PSE Department on curriculum revision and standardization.
- Attend regular training sessions as scheduled by the department or college.
- Assist students with career planning, job placement, and follow‑up studies under the Program Director.
- Act as a resource person, offering office hours or individual student conferences.
- Collaborate with college personnel to write proposals for program funds.
- Thorough knowledge of paramedicine and out‑of‑hospital emergency medicine.
- Understanding of teaching various audiences and group dynamics.
- Visual acuity to observe and supervise students.
- Proficiency with computers, video chat technology (e.g., Zoom), and LMS.
- Oral and written communication skills in English; interpreter optional.
- Ability to review and apply concepts from training, conferences, and professional literature.
- Collaboration with faculty and staff at all levels.
- Willingness to travel and teach at varied hours and locations.
- Commitment to a diverse workplace.
- AAS‑Paramedicine degree or higher from an accredited institution or equivalent coursework.
- Three years of pre‑hospital emergency care experience (paramedic or equivalent).
- Completed NFPA Fire Instructor I or Fire Service Instructor I & II or equivalent.
- Current Oregon Paramedic License.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider Instructor (professional CPR) or equivalent.
- Teaching experience in a community college setting.
