Position Title:

Part Time Instructor Criminal Justice (POOL)

Primary Purpose

Provide instruction in Criminal Justice as a member of an instructional team of full and part‑time instructors. Instruction is primarily in the 100‑level required courses of the Associate of Applied Science Degree, including Introduction to Criminal Justice, the Judicial Process, and Law Enforcement. Faculty should have experience in law enforcement, corrections, or probation and parole and will direct student discussion, design learning experiences, and evaluate performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in Criminal Justice courses in classroom, remote, or online delivery modes using established course outcomes and providing individual conference time to guide and evaluate student progress.
  • Collaborate with the Business Department to revise and standardize curricula for these classes.
  • Attend regular training sessions as scheduled by the department or college.
  • Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to each location as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of the field of Criminal Justice based on education and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of teaching techniques for diverse audiences and group dynamics.
  • Visual ability to observe, direct, and supervise students in classroom situations.
  • Ability to operate computer and video chat technology (e.g., Zoom) and learn the college’s LMS.
  • Effective oral and written communication in English, with or without auxiliary aids.
  • Ability to apply concepts presented in training programs and professional literature.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty and staff at all levels.
  • Willingness to travel and/or teach at various hours and locations as required.
  • Commitment to a diverse workplace and inclusive teaching practices.
Ergonomic Requirements
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent required.
  • Regular office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; flexible schedule with nights and weekends may be required.
  • Work primarily at a workstation for extended periods, with occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • College teaching experience preferred.
