Primary Purpose
The TRIO Student Ambassador serves as a peer leader and representative of the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program s role is designed for a current TRIO participant who is passionate about supporting fellow students, building community, and increasing awareness about TRIO services across campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Outreach and Recruitment- Represent TRIO at campus events and resource fairs
- Assist with outreach efforts to recruit eligible students into the TRIO program
- Share personal experiences as a TRIO student to help connect with prospective students
- Serve as a peer mentor and point of contact for current and prospective TRIO students
- Encourage student participation in TRIO services, workshops, and events
- Assist with planning, setup, facilitation of TRIO workshops, events, and activities
- Support special initiatives (orientation sessions, student success workshops, community events)
- Help manage event logistics including sign-ins, materials, and follow-up
- Contribute to TRIO marketing efforts (hanging flyers, outreach materials)
- Assist in highlighting student success stories and program impact
- Assist with development and distribution of the TRIO newsletter
- Assist with general office tasks as needed (data entry, organizing materials, preparing resources)
- Support staff with program operations as needed

- Ability to use software programs and database systems which include Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook email, and modern office equipment.
Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to work at a workstation for extended periods. Requires to write, read written materials and computer screens, and ability to use telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting up to 25lbs. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Comfort with public speaking and presenting to small groups of peers.
