Instruction​/Outreach Faculty Librarian

Position Overview

The Instruction and Outreach Librarian coordinates the instructional and reference/research services of the COCC Libraries. This faculty librarian leads an active, multi‑faceted library instruction program in a collaborative environment, working closely with library colleagues and departmental faculty to integrate information literacy (IL) into the physical and virtual classrooms across all COCC campuses (Redmond, Madras, Prineville, Bend).

Salary:
Starting $61,560 – $72,009 plus exceptional benefits (subject to change based on ongoing faculty negotiations). Position Type:
Full‑time faculty, 9‑month (179 days) per academic year. Close Date: 07/26/2026. The position is not open until filled.

• Plan, implement, promote, and assess the Library’s Information Literacy program in collaboration with library and departmental faculty.
• Provide instructional services, including teaching online and asynchronous credit courses, one‑shot sessions, embedded librarian classes, and book‑a‑librarian appointments on main and branch campuses.
• Create course‑specific resources, guides, and online tutorials for both traditional and virtual environments.
• Support College Now courses and other K‑12 initiatives that address information literacy.
• Maintain current skills in library instruction techniques, technologies, and IL theories; participate in professional activities at state, regional, and national levels.
• Lead, promote, and assess the library’s reference/research assistance services for students, faculty, and patron groups.
• Provide oversight and evaluation of the Part‑Time Instruction and Outreach Librarian on the Redmond campus.
• Develop, implement, and assess reference/research and instructional services across Bend, Redmond, Prineville, and Madras campuses.
• Collaborate in developing library marketing and outreach materials and implement the Library’s Outreach Plan.
• Serve on the library’s leadership team, participating in planning and policy implementation.
• Engage in library outreach activities, mandatory student advising, and professional obligations such as participation in the Open Oregon OER workgroup.
• Provide community service and participate in College governance, committees, and improvement projects.
• Attend library meetings, training sessions, and other college academic activities; work some weekend or evening hours as required.
• Perform other essential assignments as requested by the Library Director.

• Knowledge of instructional theories and ability to teach library classes in physical and online environments.
• Knowledge of instructional design principles for online learning.
• Experience with concepts and goals of information literacy.
• Experience creating instructional materials such as online tutorials, surveys, and guides.
• Understanding of the information needs of community college students.

Work in classroom and office environments using computers, whiteboards, projectors, and other basic office equipment. Teaching assignments may include courses taught during the day and/or evening at the main campus or branch centers, and courses taught online or as online/face‑to‑face hybrids.
