Art Model - Clothed or Unclothed (Part Time, Temporary Hourly, Non-Benefited)
The Art Model provides in‑classroom modeling for drawing, painting, sculpture and other art‑related classes. Modeling is primarily unclothed for a specific length of time with periodic breaks, as directed by the class instructor. Serve as classroom model to aid instructors in teaching human proportions, body alignments, anatomy and structure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Pose for arts studio classes; figure drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography courses as required, unclothed, clothed, or draped according to the needs of the instructor by course curriculum.
- Pose for artists in various positions and settings, ensuring a range of body angles and expressions as required by the instructor.
- Maintain poses for extended periods while remaining still and focused, allowing artists to capture accurate representations.
- Communicate effectively with instructors and students to understand their specific needs and preferences for poses.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
- Maintain a respectful distance from students and student work.
- Maintain focus and accurate record of hours. Responsible with time management and schedule changes; flexible with time to be early or stay late based on classroom time needs.
- Able to pose in a variety of positions and clothing styles.
- Able to demonstrate flexibility and animation of the human form.
- Knowledge of drawing terminology and responding prompts.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter.
- Knowledge and skills to use a computer, email, search the internet, and Microsoft software.
- Ability to work cooperatively and sensitively with constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
Work is performed during regular classroom hours and in a classroom setting. Model may be standing or sitting for extended periods of time. The position requires a very flexible schedule as hours vary daily depending on needs of accommodating classes and community members into the studio. While working, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations.
Occasional lifting may occur. Must be able to climb or pull self‑upward as needed. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
High School diploma or GED. Must be 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications- Previous experience as a model for artists or in a similar role.
- Basic knowledge of art techniques and terminology.
