Youth Assistant
The Youth Assistant plays a pivotal role on the Westside Youth team, supporting our rapidly growing middle school, high school, and pre-teen (4th–5th grade) ministries. This position is responsible for assisting with weekly youth gatherings. In close partnership with the Youth & Family Pastor and Youth Program Coordinator, this role builds meaningful relationships with students and volunteers to foster a dynamic, Christ-centered community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills—able to connect with students, parents, and volunteers.
- Experience working with youth (in church, camp, school, or volunteer setting).
- Available for a non-traditional schedule including Sundays and weekday evenings.
Additional
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of paid or significant volunteer experience in youth ministry or discipleship.
- Experience leading small groups or mentoring students.
- Basic media, or tech skills (Pro Presenter, or sound/video helpful).
- Group management skills such as leading games, making announcements, and hosting events.
- Ability to assist with volunteer coordination and training.
- Comfort speaking or teaching in front of groups.
- Comfortable using Planning Center and/or similar volunteer or scheduling platforms.
Responsibilities & Associated Tasks:
Youth Services (Sunday AM & PM + Monday PM): 80 % / 16 hours per week
- Be a visible presence and assist with activities, setup/teardown and hosting.
- Collaborate with team to deliver meaningful worship and teaching moments.
- Youth Church, Open Gym and/or 4th/5th Grade Classroom Sunday AM (8 am
-1pm) 5 Hour - High School Sunday PM (5:00– 10 pm) 5 Hours
- Middle School Monday PM (5:00–9pm) 4 Hours
- 4th/5th First Wednesday PM (4-7pm) (1 hour per week, 4 hours per month)
- Special Events (evenings, as scheduled) 1 hour per week
Team Participation & Administrative Duties: 20 % / 4 hours - 1 morning per week
- Attend all Youth and Westside Church staff meetings and events
- Maintain clear communication with staff, students, and families
- Run errands as needed for youth team such as picking up pizzas from Costco or other needed items.
- Participate in prayer, study, and training for continued spiritual and professional growth.
