The Bend, Oregon facility integrates research and development, large-scale pheromone synthesis, product engineering, and manufacturing. Suterra offers proprietary aerosol emitters, sprayable formulations, hand-applied dispensers, and specialized monitoring lures.
We are looking for a bold, curious, hands-on problem solver to help us improve safety, efficiency, capacity, and compliance.
This is a full-time, on-site role at our Bend, Oregon facility.
Job DescriptionThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of equipment and utilities and driving projects for long-term improvements in safety, efficiency, capacity, and compliance. This role interfaces closely with external vendors and internal departments including health & safety, engineering, supply chain management and operations.
Responsibilities- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance for on-site production systems and facility infrastructure; maintain records of maintenance performed and parts/materials utilized; work with Engineering to develop preventive maintenance programs for new equipment and utilities; coordinate access to equipment and utilities with minimal production impact; coordinate preventive maintenance requiring outside vendor support, including requests for quotation, scheduling, safety orientation and permit issuance.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Work with Maintenance, Engineering and Operations to identify root causes of issues affecting equipment or utility performance; manage parts, tools, drawings and resources required to facilitate safe and timely repairs; provide recommendations and initiate projects to prevent recurrence of equipment issues and breakdowns.
- Project Support: Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to generate and implement improvements that enhance safety and efficiency; support the safe installation of new tools and equipment; provide support to the broader Operations team with mechanical and fabrication work.

A lot of enthusiasm and a collaborative mindset. Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and represent the engineering function as needed.
- One to three years of maintenance experience in an industrial plant or field service role.
- Experience with site utilities including plumbing, compressed air, HVAC, building automation, and fire suppression systems.
- Knowledge of control circuits and troubleshooting controls for pumps, motors and other electrical/mechanical systems in an industrial environment.
- Experience troubleshooting and installing programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Strong understanding of pneumatic systems used for production equipment, including cylinder operation, manifold design, and troubleshooting valve assemblies.
- Ability to use and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints and schematics.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems while understanding risks to resources and deadlines.
- Enthusiasm for teamwork across multiple functions of the organization.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
