As a Mechanical Design Engineer II at Cole Breit Engineering, you'll play an important role in preparing detailed HVAC system designs, performing engineering calculations, coordinating with project teams, and supporting projects through construction. BUILD STRONG TECHNICAL DESIGN SKILLS.
You have 2+ years of relevant experience designing HVAC systems, performing engineering calculations, and developing coordinated construction documents that support successful project delivery.

You enjoy working closely with engineers and project teams to solve problems and deliver high-quality designs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
Within the first 30 days:
Gain an understanding of Cole Breit’s design standards, project delivery process, and team structure.
Build relationships with project team members and learn company drafting and modeling standards.
Begin supporting active projects through calculations, drafting, modeling, and design coordination activities.
3-6 months and ongoing:
Design basic HVAC systems with guidance, including air distribution systems, hydronic systems, steam systems, and control systems.
Perform heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation calculations, and system sizing calculations.
Size, select, and schedule mechanical HVAC equipment.
Layout equipment rooms and coordinate air and hydronic distribution systems with other building systems.
Participate in coordination with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
Review contractor product data submittals and shop drawings and assist with construction administration activities.
Attend construction site walk-throughs with senior engineers and contribute to field observation reports.
6-12 months and ongoing:
Independently perform mechanical design tasks on assigned projects.
Compare and evaluate alternative design solutions.
Assess existing equipment and systems on renovation projects and support integration of new systems.
Edit project specifications and contribute to project documentation.
Support project delivery and serve as project lead on smaller projects as assigned.
Continue developing technical expertise through training, professional networks, and industry involvement.
EDUCATION,
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution required.
2+ years of AEC industry experience.
Experience in MEP consulting demonstrating project-level skills.
Aptitude for designing HVAC systems, air distribution systems, and hydronic systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit required.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build collaborative relationships with team members, clients, and vendors.
Organized, flexible, self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred, with intent to obtain Professional Engineer licensure within three years.
COMPANY BENEFITS INCLUDE:
The compensation range is $76,500 - $85,500 annually, commensurate with experience level and skillset
