Overview
DOWL is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer 1 to join our team of transportation planners and designers dedicated to creating innovative, practical solutions. In this role, you will work on complex, high‑profile projects that improve how people move, from local streets to major highways. You will use CAD, 3D modeling, and engineering analysis to develop technical reports, cost estimates, and geometric layouts, while coordinating with stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Produce technical reports and memos.
- Write specifications and design documents.
- Conduct construction quantity calculations and cost estimates.
- Deliver design documents and construction plans.
- Prepare breakdown of costs and scope of work.
- Develop proposal technical approaches.
- Mentor junior team members on technical tasks.
- Lead client project meetings and resolve technical issues.
- Supervise small teams (1–2 people) and oversee daily workflow.
- Provide constructive feedback and performance evaluations.
- Assist with recruitment, training, and employee development activities.
- Proficient in Market Sector Software (AutoCAD C3D, Microstation Connect, Open Roads).
- Experience with 3D design and visualizations (Revit, Infraworks, etc.).
- Knowledge of design codes: AASHTO, FHWA, local client codes.
- Advanced understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 6 years of experience; 5 years with an advanced degree.
- PE license required.
- Valid driver’s license; driving is an essential job function.
