Summary
The Credit Analyst II collaborates with relationship managers to gather and evaluate commercial credit information on current and prospective customers. The role prepares written reports including in‑depth analysis of financial statements, cash flow and ratio analysis, suggested credit structure, industry analysis, and identified risks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Read, review, and understand various financial statements including tax returns, balance sheets, P&L statements, aging reports, borrowing base certificates, debt schedules, equipment lists, credit bureau reports, rent rolls, lease agreements, and appraisals.
- Prepare financial spreads for commercial and real estate businesses, municipalities, non‑profits, and individuals acting as direct obligation borrowers or guarantors.
- Analyze credit worthiness of commercial applicants and guarantors by reviewing loan applications, spreading historical and projected financial statements, calculating cash flows, leverage, liquidity ratios, evaluating collateral, conducting research on borrowers and key industries, and identifying risks.
- Write a comprehensive analysis report using charts, formulas, graphs, and narrative.
- Evaluate credit quality and suggest appropriate risk rating based on most recent financial information.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and keep up‑to‑date with changes in federal regulations and credit policy requirements.
- Assist the Relationship Manager in preparing reports for quarterly monitoring of classified and criticized commercial relationships.
- Complete covenant testing of financial performance metrics using prepared financial spreads.
- Participate in a quality control program that reviews general forms, spreads, and analysis and provides feedback and mentoring.
- Strong organization and time‑management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and Risk Management personnel.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, set priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
- Self‑motivated with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and able to learn other programs quickly.
- Experience with financial spread software.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field required.
- Or 7-9 years of banking experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar position required.
- Commercial banking experience preferred.
The role requires operating a computer keyboard and mouse, occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs, frequent sitting, and occasional overtime as needed. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with moderate noise level.
