Full‑Time, Nights – RN (Behavioral Health)

The RN provides quality patient- and family-centered care as a member of the healthcare team, applying professional nursing standards to enhance the patient experience. The RN oversees the work of other caregivers, performing specific care duties for assigned patients during the shift.

• Establish and maintain therapeutic nurse‑patient relationships.
• Assist in creating a structured therapeutic environment.
• Respect patient privacy and confidentiality while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Coordinate with peers to ensure nursing interventions are delegated and performed within scope.
• Implement mandated physician orders, perform physical exams, collect laboratory specimens, administer mandatory restraints, and document mental status examinations.
• Respond promptly to crisis situations using available unit, hospital, and community resources.
• Educate patients, families, and coworkers, promoting self‑management and self‑advocacy.
• Document care compliant with hospital policies and mandatory regulatory agencies.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and self‑improvement initiatives.
• Communicate written and oral information clearly and maintain professional relationships with caregivers, medical staff, and patients.
• Identify work-related problems, propose solutions, and implement within scope of practice.
• Serve as a champion of change in continuous improvement initiatives such as Value Improvement Practice (VIP‑Lean).
• Maintain a therapeutic presence and provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and guests.

• Current Oregon RN license required.
• BSN preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification required.
• Preferred:
  Department specific acute care certification (e.g., Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Executive, RN‑BC).

• Preferred: 1 year recent acute care RN experience.
• Strong knowledge of residential or hospital-based psychiatric units or designated psychiatric areas.
• Familiarity with psychotropic medications, mental and substance abuse disorders, counseling, and case management skills.
