Pay Range
$20.51 - $26.25 per hour, based on experience, in addition to shift differentials.

Position OverviewThe Radiology Assistant / Transporter provides transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Services Department, with consideration for the patient’s experience and condition. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
Essential Functions and Duties- Accurately verify and transport patients, checking patient identification and confirming with nursing staff.
- Transport patients to and from radiology, ED and inpatient areas via wheelchair, bed or gurney.
- Assist patients in and out of bed using proper patient care and lifting techniques.
- Assist technologists with patient movement and positioning.
- Observe patient and equipment during transport, report unusual occurrences, and record patient’s condition to sending and/or receiving clinical staff.
- Comfort patients and families, offering support and encouragement to alleviate anxiety and fear surrounding the Radiology process.
- Inform those accompanying the patient regarding waiting areas, expected timelines, and procedures.
- Aid with non‑patient transport including laboratory specimens, beds, and CDs.
- Maintain safe and clean radiology transport equipment.
- Safely handle medical equipment including IV pumps and poles, oxygen tanks, patient charts, monitors and other equipment.
- Assist with Radiology clerical duties as requested.
- Stock lines and supplies.
- Follow safety protocols and infection control guidelines when transporting patients and equipment.
- Support Lean principles of continuous improvement.
- Ensure a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
- Conduct all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; report potential violations; cooperate with investigations.
- Use AIDET to prepare patients for procedures and communicate effectively.
- Deliver customer service and/or patient care that promotes goodwill, timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Perform additional duties of similar complexity as required or assigned.
- High school diploma or GED – required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification – required within six months of hire.
- Six months hospital patient transport experience – preferred.
- Customer service experience – preferred.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE required to perform the job safely.
Physical Requirements- Patient Care Level #3 – Continuously (75% or more):
Standing and walking, keyboard operation, clear audible speaking voice, and ability to hear normal speech. - Frequently (50%):
Sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 1–25 pounds; use of a motor vehicle for Home Health and Wound Caregivers. - Occasionally (25%):
Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/stepstool (varies by area), reaching overhead, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 25–50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, ability to hear whispered speech. - Rarely (10%):
Climbing stairs, exposure to wet/slippery area, chemical solution. - Never (0%):
Climbing ladder/stepstool (varies by area), operation of a motor vehicle, heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, uneven surface.
- 30 weekly hours, Regular Shift – First Shift.
- Scheduled days of the week may include weekends and holidays.
