Medical Assistant- Family Care

Pay range: $24.93 - $31.91.

The Medical Assistant is responsible for daily patient flow for each respective physician, using triage skills to gather information that allows staff to make appropriate patient health assessments and anticipate physician needs. This position does not manage other caregivers.

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare for physician assessment.
• Record and maintain patient medical data in the chart.
• Assist physician with answering phone requests from patients, other medical professionals, and institutions.
• Perform a variety of physician‑requested ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures (excluding IV medication administration).
• Maintain equipment, instruments, and supply inventory levels.
• Support the organization’s vision, mission, and values in all respects.
• Apply Lean principles of continuous improvement, acting as a champion of change.
• Provide and maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
• Conduct all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, supporting corporate integrity efforts.
• Deliver customer service and patient care that is timely, efficient, and accurate.
• Perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization as required or assigned.

• Required:
  
  High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred:
  Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

• Required:
  
  Current MA Certification from one of the following: AMT, NCCT, AAMA, NAHP, NHA, or current Oregon licensure as an intermediate or paramedic level EMT, LPN, RN, or Athletic Trainer; AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
• Preferred: NA Experience.

• Required:
  
  Basic knowledge of ICD‑10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions, coding procedures, practice management systems, and physician office documentation standards; must maintain confidentiality and meet HIPAA requirements.
• Required:
  
  One (1) year of experience in Medical Assisting (for candidates with NHA certification based on work experience rather than program graduation).
• Preferred:
  Two (2) years of Medical Assisting experience.

• Travel:
  Ability to travel to business functions, trainings, meetings, and all St.Charles Health System worksites.
• Personal Protective Equipment:
  Must wear appropriate PPE required to perform the job safely.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Standing and walking (75% of time), keyboard operation, speaking and hearing, sitting (50% of time), lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1–25lb (50% of time), lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25–50lb (25% of time), occasional bending, stooping, climbing ladders, reaching overhead (25% of time). Rarely: climbing stairs. Never: operating a motor vehicle.
• Exposure to Elemental Factors:
  Rarely (10%): wet/slippery area, chemical solution. Never (0%): heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, uneven surface.
