Job SummaryThe Certified Surgical Technologist assists in surgical procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field, collaborating with RNs, surgeons, and anesthesiologists before, during, and after surgery in accordance with operating room and center policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment.
- Assist with instrument handling and sterile field maintenance, passing instruments and checking sterility.
- Attend all required safety training, understand exposure control plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens.
- Respect and maintain professional courtesy toward patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
- Promote effective working relations within the department and across departments.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
- Assist with room turnovers and instrument processing as needed.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting of OR tools.

Regular standing, walking, use of hands to handle instruments, reaching, talking, hearing; occasional sitting and stooping; regular lifting up to 10 lbs, frequent lifting up to 25 lbs, and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required. Minimum two years recent experience as a sterile processing technician in a medical facility.
