Job Title and Reporting
Medical Assistant – reports to Clinic Supervisor or Manager.
DepartmentSt. Charles Health System.
Location and CompensationBend, OR. Full‑time, days. Pay range: $24.93 – $31.91.

Position OverviewThe Medical Assistant will manage daily patient flow for the assigned physicians, using triage skills to gather information that guides physician decisions and anticipates physician needs related to patient care.
Essential Functions and Duties- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for physician assessment.
- Record and maintain medical data in the patient chart.
- Assist physicians with answering phone requests from patients and other medical professionals.
- Perform physician‑requested ancillary or surgical patient procedures, excluding IV medication administration.
- Maintain equipment, instruments, and supply inventory levels.
- Support the vision, mission, and values, and Lean continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide and maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
- Conduct all activities with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Comply with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; report violations and cooperate with investigations.
- Deliver customer service and patient care that promotes goodwill, timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Perform additional duties of similar complexity as required or assigned.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Preferred:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. - Certification:
Current MA certification from AMT, NCCT, AAMA, NAHP, NHA, intermediate or paramedic EMT, Oregon LPN, or Oregon RN; AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification required. - Experience:
Basic knowledge of ICD‑10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions; functioning medical practice management information systems; basic physician office documentation standards; HIPAA compliance. Two years of Medical Assisting experience preferred; one year required if holding NHA certification from work experience. - Travel:
Ability to travel to business functions, trainings, meetings, and all St. Charles Health System worksites.
- 75% standing/walking, keyboard operation, speaking.
- 50% sitting, lifting 1‑25 lbs.
- 25% occasionally bending, stooping, reaching overhead, lifting 25‑50 lbs.
- 10% rarely climbing stairs.
- Personal protective equipment as required; exposure to wet/slippery area and chemical solution occasionally; never heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, uneven surface.
Regular, first shift, Monday‑Friday, 40 hours. Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates. Position is non‑exempt.
