Medical Assistant
Pay range: $24.93 - $31.91. Clinic location:
Bend & Redmond, Oregon. Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
The Medical Assistant will manage daily patient flow for each assigned physician, using triage skills to gather information that informs patient assessments and anticipates physician needs. This position does not manage other caregivers.
Essential Functions and Duties- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for physician assessment.
- Record and maintain patient medical data in the chart.
- Assist physicians with answering phone requests from patients and other medical professionals.
- Perform a variety of physician‑requested ancillary or surgical patient procedures (excluding IV medication).
- Maintain equipment, instrument, and supply inventory levels.
- Support the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
- Champion Lean principles of continuous improvement.
- Provide and maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
- Conduct all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; report suspected violations and cooperate fully with investigations.
- Deliver customer service and patient care in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
- Perform additional duties of similar complexity as required or assigned.
Required:
High school diploma or GED. Preferred:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Required:
Current MA Certification from any of the following:
American Medical Technology Association (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Health career Association (NHA), or licensure as an intermediate or paramedic‑level EMT, Oregon LPN, or Oregon RN. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification. Ability to travel to business functions, trainings, meetings, and all St.Charles Health System worksites.
Preferred:
Current American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification.
Required:
Basic knowledge of ICD‑10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions and procedures; working knowledge of medical practice management information systems; basic knowledge of physician office documentation standards. Must maintain confidentiality and meet all HIPAA requirements. Candidates with NHA certification who qualified by work experience must have at least one year of experience in Medical Assisting.
Preferred:
Two (2) years of Medical Assisting experience.
Continually (75% or more):
Standing, walking, keyboard operation, clear audible speaking voice, and ability to hear normal speech level.
Frequently (50%):
Sitting; lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1–25 pounds.
Occasionally (25%):
Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/step‑stool, reaching overhead, lifting 25–50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, ability to hear whispered speech level.
Rarely (10%):
Climbing stairs.
Never (0%):
Climbing ladder/step‑stool, motor vehicle operation.
Exposure to elemental factors:
Rarely (10%) – wet/slippery area, chemical solution;
Never (0%) – heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, uneven surface. Blood‑borne Pathogen (BBP) exposure category:
Risk for exposure to BBP.
