Position OverviewThe Patient Service Representative acts as liaison between patients and professional staff by facilitating clerical and reception responsibilities and assisting in administrative tasks. PSRs collaborate with clinical staff to ensure comprehensive and compassionate health care for the community.
Key Responsibilities- Patient scheduling: accurately schedule appointments, maintain appointment requests, manage waitlist and restore reports.
- Pre‑arrival and financial clearance: perform real‑time eligibility, route scheduling requests, ensure authorization, reconcile schedules, address registration work queue items.
- Patient registration: record demographics, insurance, and billing info at scheduling, check‑in, and check‑out; collect and process all payment types; provide after‑visit summary and collect remaining copays.
- Clinic daily operations: maintain department files, perform readiness activities, manage supplies, process electronic and telephone messages, support basic work queue items, handle document collection and distribution, faxing and scanning.
- Customer service and patient care: deliver timely, efficient service; assist patients, arrange interpretive services, support Lean principles, maintain safe environment, onboard new caregivers, uphold professional standards and confidentiality.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: One year of clerical support in a healthcare setting or related experience preferred.
- Skills: Excellent communication, customer service, teamwork, organizational, mathematical, and computer skills (electronic medical records and MS Office).
- Language: Read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to work independently, multi‑task, and handle stressful interactions.
- Physical ability to use clear speaking voice, sit, stand, walk, lift 1–10 pounds, and occasional lifting 11–15 pounds.
- PPE:
Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
- Continually (≥75%): use clear speaking voice and hear normal speech.
- Frequently (≥50%): sit, stand, walk, lift 1–10 lbs, keyboard operation.
- Occasionally (≥25%): bend, climb stairs, reach overhead, carry 1–10 lbs.
- Rarely (≥10%): stoop/kneel/crouch, lift 11–15 lbs, operate a motor vehicle.
- Never (≤0%): climb ladder, lift 25–50 lbs, hear whispered speech.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 07:30–17:00 (40 hours). First Shift. Regular, non‑exempt position.
