Position: X-Ray and DXA Technologist

Location:

Bend, OR (rotate through all locations)

Hours:

4-10 hour shifts, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. DEXA is on Saturday and Sunday, X-Ray on Friday and Monday.

Wages:
Depending on experience, education and internal equity of current employees.

Position Summary

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality X-Ray and DXA imaging procedures to support physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient care and safety. The X-Ray & DXA technologist ensures accurate patient positioning, proper equipment utilization, and adherence to established clinical protocols and regulatory requirements.

This position plays a key role in maintaining imaging quality, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency. This role requires strict attention to detail, professionalism, confidentiality, and consistent, reliable attendance, as imaging accuracy directly impacts patient outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform X-Ray and DXA examinations in accordance with established clinical protocols and physician orders.
  • Accurately position patients and select appropriate exposure parameters to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Operate radiographic and DXA imaging equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist radiologists or radiology assistants during imaging, fluoroscopic, or invasive procedures as required.
Patient Care & Experience
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the imaging process.
  • Educate patients on procedures, expectations, and safety considerations.
  • Monitor patient condition during exams and respond appropriately to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Assist with patient mobility using wheelchairs, stretchers, or lifting devices as needed.
Quality & Clinical Collaboration
  • Collaborate with radiologists to ensure imaging quality meets diagnostic standards.
  • Identify and communicate quality issues, equipment concerns, or protocol inconsistencies.
  • Maintain imaging accuracy and consistency through adherence to best practices and continuous improvement.
Documentation & Records Management
  • Verify and maintain accurate patient records in electronic medical systems.
  • Ensure imaging documentation, exam notes, and patient data are complete and compliant.
  • Update and correct patient information as needed to maintain record integrity.
Operations & Department Support
  • Assist with clinic operations including exam room preparation and turnover.
  • Stocking supplies.
  • Schedule coordination.
  • Phone inquiries and patient assistance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of imaging equipment and work areas.
  • Support team operations to ensure efficient patient flow and service delivery.
Compliance & Safety

Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, including radiation safety and workplace standards. Maintain compliance with OBMI scope of practice, ARRT/ASRT requirements, and facility policies. Follow all safety protocols regarding patient handling, equipment use, and infection control. Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations at all times.

Flexibility & Teamwork
  • Demonstrate flexibility with work schedules, including varying hours or work locations as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, technologists, and clinical staff to support patient care.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth department operations.
Required Qualifications Education & Certification
  • Current Oregon Medical Imaging License (OBMI or equivalent).
  • ARRT Certification required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Current continuing education (CE) compliance required.
Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
  • DXA experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of radiographic imaging procedures and safety standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and patient care skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and team members.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining teamwork and collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements Physical Demands
  • Frequent standing (up to 95% of the workday).
  • Full range of motion required for patient positioning and equipment use.
  • Ability to assist in patient transfers and mobility using proper equipment.
  • Regular lifting and moving of equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs.)
Work Environment
  • Primarily indoor clinical settings with moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional outdoor activity when assisting with mobile imaging or transport.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, physicians, and clinical staff.
