Salary Range: $21.00 To $21.85 Hourly
Job Title: Mental Health Technician/Skills Trainer – Day Treatment Program
Schedule: Varied On-Call Hours during Program Operation Hours of Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Starting Pay: $23.50/hour (Higher rate considered based on verified external experience)
Reports To: Program Manager
Location: Bend, Oregon
Position SummaryThe Mental Health Technician/Skills Trainer works under the direct supervision of the Day Treatment Skills Trainer Supervisor to support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of skills-based therapeutic services for school-aged youth enrolled in the Day Treatment Program. This position plays a vital role in delivering trauma‑informed care by providing therapeutic support, academic assistance, and skill‑building interventions in a structured classroom setting.
The technician works collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team to help clients meet their individualized treatment goals.
- Implement evidence‑based therapeutic interventions under the direction of the supervisor.
- Provide skills training and emotional support to clients within a classroom environment.
- Assist with academic instruction and classroom management as needed.
- Serve as a positive role model and provide leadership and direction to youth in care.
- Maintain consistent supervision and ensure a safe, supportive, and trauma‑informed environment.
- Participate in treatment planning, implementation, and progress evaluations.
- Consult with clinical team members, agency personnel, and family members regarding client needs and progress.
- Accurately document client interactions, behaviors, and progress as required.
- Uphold agency standards, policies, and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth in a therapeutic, behavioral health, or educational setting preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles strongly desired.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations.
- Must be reliable, flexible, and committed to the wellbeing of youth.

Pay range listed for this position is intended to provide general guidance on earning potential. Actual compensation will be determined in accordance with the Oregon Equal Pay Law and will consider candidate’s relevant experience and education. Candidates should expect that initial offers will be within the listed pay range.
