Patient Care Technician, Healthcare Nursing
The Monitor Technician provides patient and family focused care as part of the health care team in accordance with the St. Charles Health System mission, philosophy, policies and procedures. Monitors ECG rhythms and reports observations to the RN. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
Essential Functions And Duties
Recognizes and reports observation to RN.
Records observation and order summary in multiple areas of electronic medical record.
Follows delegation in the delivery of care.
Respects privacy, and maintains patients’ rights to decide about care.
Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.
Documents with proficiency in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory agencies.
Demonstrates awareness of and supports St. Charles Health System’s departmental and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
Participates in activities that promote professional growth and development of self and others.
Communicates (both written and orally) effectively and maintains professional relationships with caregivers, medical staff, patients, and guests.
Identifies work-related problems with possible solutions and implements solution(s) (within scope of practice).
Participates in creating intentional relationships and a healing environment that supports all aspects of the care environment and the wholeness of each individual, patient and caregiver.
Provides a therapeutic presence in service to others by purposefully responding to the needs of patients/customers in a caring way.
Demonstrates knowledge of use and maintenance of equipment needed for assigned area. Demonstrates ability to set up equipment for use.
Demonstrates an awareness of cost containment and economical use of supplies and equipment.
Makes daily patient charges, as appropriate.
Recognizes ECG dysrhythmias and communicates changes in rhythm to RN and to charge nurse.
Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.

EDUCATION
Required:
High school diploma or GED.
Basic EKG class required within 6 months of hire.
Must be willing to take courses as requested to maintain competency.
Preferred: N/A
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required: AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
Preferred: NTA Telemetry Certification (National Telemetry Association).
Experience
Required: N/A
Preferred:
Acute health care experience.
EKG, Monitor tech experience.
