The Mental Health Parity Coordinator is responsible for supporting Pacific Source’s compliance with federal and state mental health parity laws and regulations, including the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). This role coordinates parity analyses, documentation, and reporting to ensure behavioral health and substance use disorder benefits are administered in compliance with regulatory requirements. The coordinator partners closely with Compliance, Legal, Behavioral Health, Medical Management, Benefits, and Vendor Management teams to identify parity risks, support corrective action, and promote consistent, compliant benefit administration.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support enterprise compliance with MHPAEA and related state mental health parity requirements.
  • Assist in conducting and maintaining Non Quantitative Treatment Limitation (NQTL) analyses, including documentation, comparative review, and regulatory readiness.
  • Monitor benefit designs, utilization management practices, provider network standards, reimbursement methodologies, and administrative processes for parity compliance.
  • Partner with internal teams and delegated vendors to gather data, policies, procedures, and evidence required for parity reviews.
  • Track regulatory guidance, enforcement activity, and emerging parity requirements; support implementation of changes as needed.
  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, and information requests related to mental health parity.
  • Document findings, risks, mitigation strategies, and corrective actions; maintain organized and audit ready parity files.
  • Coordinate issue resolution and follow up with internal stakeholders to ensure timely remediation of identified gaps.
  • Provide education and guidance to internal teams regarding mental health parity requirements and compliance expectations.
  • Participate in cross functional work groups and compliance committees related to behavioral health, benefits, and regulatory oversight.
  • Support ongoing compliance reporting and leadership updates as requested.

Supporting Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Meet department and company performance expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow the Pacific Source privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.

SUCCESS PROFILE

Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare compliance, behavioral health, utilization management, regulatory analysis, health insurance industry or other medical setting is required. Experience with mental health parity, behavioral health operations, Medicaid, Medicare, or commercial health plan administration is preferred. Familiarity with regulatory audits, document review, and cross functional coordination also preferred.
