Position Title: Sustainability Programs Manager

Job Definition

The Sustainability Programs Manager coordinates the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the District’s sustainability initiatives. This position supports the translation of adopted sustainability goals into aligned systems, implementation plans, and performance measures across schools and departments, promoting consistent practice and measurable outcomes.

The Sustainability Programs Manager works cross-functionally with department- and school-based staff to align sustainability efforts with instructional priorities, operational systems, capital planning, and fiscal responsibility. The Sustainability Programs Manager also supports the evaluation, development, and refinement of future sustainability plans and reporting frameworks to ensure sustainability efforts remain responsive to district priorities and evolving best practices.

• Coordinates the implementation of the District’s Sustainability Plan across schools and departments, translating adopted goals into aligned systems, workflows, and implementation strategies.
• Develops, maintains, and monitors sustainability performance measures, dashboards, and reporting systems to track progress, support decision-making, and ensure accountability.
• Partners with school-based staff to support the coordination, resourcing, and evaluation of sustainability education, student engagement, and school-based sustainability efforts.
• Coordinates district wide energy management systems’ efficiency in collaboration with facilities staff and utility partners to optimize cost savings and environmental impact.
• Collects, analyzes, and synthesizes operational, environmental, and programmatic data to evaluate effectiveness, identify trends, and inform continuous improvement.
• Designs and supports district wide sustainability systems and processes related to energy, water, transportation, waste, materials management, and sustainability education.
• Leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of district wide waste reduction, recycling, composting, and materials management systems.
• Facilitates cross-department collaboration to align sustainability efforts with operational priorities, capital planning, instructional goals, and fiscal responsibility.
• Supports schools and departments in implementing sustainability strategies by providing planning tools, guidance, technical assistance, and implementation frameworks.
