About the Job

Bend Park & Recreation District is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and service‑oriented Aquatics Recreation Supervisor to lead and oversee our dynamic aquatic programs. This position plays a key role in delivering inclusive high‑quality, safe, and engaging aquatic experiences across our facilities.

The Aquatics Recreation Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of day‑to‑day activities, providing leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight for daily operation of community swim programs, lifeguard operations, and aquatic features at two BPRD facilities. This includes overseeing activities, programs, staff, training, budget, partnerships, and responding to community and user expectations. The role ensures programs are safe, inclusive, and responsive to community needs while building strong partnerships with user groups and community organizations and meeting high customer expectations.

Day

in the Life
  • Lead and oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of specific programs and services to meet the needs and desires of the Bend Community, enhancing programs currently offered at JSFC and the Larkspur Community Center–Home of the Bend Senior Center.
  • Maintain an accurate and efficient pool block schedule and staffing protocol to maximize community benefit, including relationships and scheduling with partner organizations, rentals, and other groups with efficient billing and ongoing communications.
  • Manage staff scheduling, time and attendance review, including leave requests and time entry approval.
  • Administer all personnel matters according to established policies and procedures, including hiring, training, supervision, performance management, personnel development, and evaluation of staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct ongoing outreach and interactions with community members, groups, and organizations.
  • Coordinate and oversee facility use agreements with schools, clubs, private parties, and other non‑district user groups, independent contractors, and vendors.
  • Respond to staff and public questions, concerns, and requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist in development and management of budgets and monitor financial performance.
  • Oversee contractual agreements with user groups, independent contractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, personnel, industry, and other regulations, maintaining appropriate records and documentation.
  • Purchase facility equipment and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures, and make recommendations for larger purchases.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance and contribute to a positive and constructive work environment. Mandatory reporter under Oregon law.
Work Schedule
  • Exempt position; schedule varied based on programming and schedule needs.
  • Flexible schedule required to provide supervision and coverage.
  • Weekday evenings and occasional weekend work are to be expected.
