The Assistant General Manager will work directly with the General Manager and all team members to create and maintain a profitable restaurant environment, and one that provides best-in-class service, food, and hospitality. The Assistant General Manager must also help manage costs, labor, support recruiting efforts, provide training, and ensure that all proper company policies are followed. This individual must be dependable, self-reliant, have wonderful guest hospitality, and effective coaching and teaching skills.

It is vital that the Assistant General Manager have strong organizational and prioritization skills and has a focused team-oriented attitude. Our goal is to create unforgettable experiences at Noi Thai Cuisine and so that every patron wishes to return.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of an Assistant General Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Effectively teach, motivate, coach and discipline staff, while garnering the respect of all employees.
  • Be proficient with interviewing, warning, counseling, hiring, and firing employees, and ensure that all such events are properly documented and discussed with General Manager before making such decisions.
  • Assure strict cash handling procedures are being followed.
  • Help with assistant management development as he or she develops into their role.
  • Handle volume and stress with composure and finesse.
  • Uphold company standards and expectations.
  • Respectfully and properly handle all issues of alleged discrimination or harassment in accordance with policy, contacting your General Manager immediately when cases arise.
  • Maintain an atmosphere free of intimidation, discrimination, harassment, poor attitude, or poor work performance.
  • Drive sales by working with the General Manager/ Managers, and team members to execute excellent operations.
  • Effectively coach and counsel.
  • Manages Front of House schedules, training, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Assist in ordering and inventory.
  • Is proficient in P&L work and controlling all costs.
  • Dress and act professionally each day to set a good example for all employees.
  • Enforce safety and sanitary practices, maintenance, and regulatory compliance for the kitchen area;
    Uphold standards of cleanliness per Health Department Compliance.
  • Pay invoices/Review invoices.
  • Ensure all security measures are in place.
  • Has Oregon Food Handlers permit and OLCC serving permit.
  • Ensure that alcohol is always served responsibly and in accordance with the law.
  • Ensure uniform standards are followed in all departments.
  • Ensure restaurant overall organization and cleanliness.
  • Maintains employee files, ensuring everyone is up-to-date with proper documentation and as required by state law.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position will report directly to the General Manager.

UNIFORM STANDARDS:
The Assistant General Manager must always look professional.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Must have previous leadership experience in restaurants.
  • Must have a positive, team first attitude.
  • Must be efficient with assigned tasks.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out multi-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with quickly changing situations with many variables.
  • Ability to mathematically compute proper change, accurately perform checkouts for employees, cash handling procedures followed and compute correct bank deposits.
  • Must understand P&L’s, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Must be an effective communicator.
  • Must successfully attend and complete all required training in compliance with local and state regulations, such as food and/or alcohol service certifications.
  • Experience with Resy, Toast and 7-Shift a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have acquire and maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits required for this position.

Must attend orientation and agree to policies and procedures as outlined. Must successfully complete the training program under General Managers supervision and prior to working a shift without supervision.
