Salary information: Hiring Range: $77,832.10 - $96,511.80/yearly;

About the job: Bend Park & Recreation District is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and service-oriented Aquatics Recreation Supervisor to lead and oversee our aquatic programs. This role delivers inclusive, high-quality, safe, and engaging aquatic experiences across our facilities.

Position summary: The Aquatics Recreation Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight of community swim programs, lifeguard operations, and aquatic features at two BPRD facilities. This includes overseeing activities, programs, staff, training, budgets, partnerships, and responding to community expectations while ensuring safety, inclusivity, and strong partnerships with user groups and organizations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services to meet community needs; contribute to enhancement of programs at designated facilities.
  • Maintain accurate pool block scheduling and staffing protocols; coordinate with partner organizations, rentals, and other groups; manage billing and communications to optimize pool usage.
  • Staff scheduling, time and attendance, leave management, and time-entry approvals.
  • Manage personnel matters per policies, including hiring, training, supervision, performance management, staffing development, and, when necessary, discipline or termination.
  • Engage with community members and organizations; manage facility use agreements with schools, clubs, private parties, contractors, and vendors.
  • Respond promptly to staff and public questions, concerns, and requests.
  • Assist in budget development and financial monitoring; oversee contractual agreements with user groups and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, personnel, and regulatory requirements; maintain records and documentation.
  • Procure facility equipment and supplies in line with policies; recommend larger purchases when appropriate.
  • Maintain regular attendance and contribute to a positive work environment; comply with mandatory reporting requirements under applicable law.
Work Schedule
  • Exempt position; schedule varies with programming and needs.
  • Flexible schedule required to supervise and cover shifts.
  • Weekday evenings and occasional weekends expected.
Requirements What you'll need for success

Strong Knowledge of:

  • Principles, development, practices, implementation, and evaluation in the assigned program area.
  • Project management techniques.
  • Supervision, training, and performance management.
  • Customer service best practices; applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures for the program area.

Skill and abilities:

  • Excellent planning, organization, problem solving, initiative, prioritization, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of tasks and coordinate among staff and partners.
  • Independent initiative and decision-making; ability to work with others and maintain positive relationships with staff and the public.
  • Data analysis, interpretation of policies and procedures, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and common office software and equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional in-person communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
