Position Overview

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and direct functional and technical aspects of new products in collaboration with internal design, product management, and other engineering teams.
  • Cooperate with manufacturing partners to produce new products across a wide range of materials and manufacturing methods.
  • Work with manufacturers and the quality team to improve the quality of existing products.
  • Review and critique designs received as CAD files from the design team, soliciting feedback from manufacturers.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and engineering teams to create robust products using tolerance stack analysis, DFMEA, and other tools.
  • Prepare designs for quoting by assembling bills of materials, functional/quality requirements, and key manufacturing questions.
  • Collaborate with product managers to review and compare quotes from multiple manufacturers.
  • Meet with the design team to provide insight on design decisions related to material selection, manufacturing methods, assembly methods, and cost.
  • Review and critique pre‑production samples from manufacturers.
  • Manage and update product data—including CAD, drawings, and parts lists—once tools are made.
  • Ensure new products meet performance and quality standards by reviewing dimensional data from pre‑production samples and designing product testing procedures.
  • Approve products for mass production when acceptable quality is achieved.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, product engineering, materials science, or equivalent field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Solid Works CAD software.
  • Knowledge of common consumer product materials (plastics, metals, silicone, fasteners).
  • Knowledge of common consumer product manufacturing methods (plastic injection molding, metal fabrication, CNC machining, overmolding, silicone molding).
  • Knowledge of common assembly/joining methods (plastic snap, overmolding, ultrasonic welding, screws, pins, springs).
  • Ability to travel internationally to Asia (10%) as needed.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
