The mission of the Environmental Center is to embed sustainability into daily life in Central Oregon. They are a regional leader in environmental education, engagement, and action.
Oregon Wild is a non-profit conservation organization that works to protect andrestore the wildlands, wildlife, and waters that make our state such a special place.
Typical DayThe intern will work with The Environmental Center 5 weeks throughout the summer, which will focus on supporting their youth summer camps. During the 4 weeks working with Oregon Wild, the intern will help with educational hikes, community events, and developing content for social media and their blog.
Skills LearnedThis individual will gain skills and experience in environmental education, facilitating youth programs, communications, and event planning for nonprofits. All of these outreach activities help to engage with supporters and get them excited about sustainability and environmental conservation. The intern will gain knowledge about the most pressing environmental issues in our community and state.
Schedule and Other DetailsThe majority of work will occur Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm, but some evening and weekend work will be required. The Environmental Center’s office is located in downtown Bend and Oregon Wild’s office is located on the west side of Bend.
Job RequirementsThis job requires creativity, an interest in writing, computer proficiency, and excitement about sustainability and working with youth.
