Construction Crew Leader

Build homes. Build your skills. Build your future. Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity is seeking five full-time Ameri Corps members to serve as Construction Crew Leaders. This is not a traditional job. It is a 10.5-month paid national service opportunity through Ameri Corps, hosted by Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity. If you're looking to gain hands-on construction experience, develop leadership skills, and make a lasting impact in Central Oregon, this opportunity is for you.

At Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone deserves a place to call home—a safe, stable, and healthy environment where families can thrive and communities can flourish. Since 1989, we have partnered with over 250 families to make home ownership possible and revitalized 145 homes, transforming the lives of more than 1,100 children and adults.

Working alongside our experienced Site Supervisors, you'll:

  • Assist with residential construction from site preparation through finish work.
  • Learn sustainable, net-zero-ready building practices.
  • Lead and support volunteers on active construction sites.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
  • Provide volunteer orientations and safety briefings.
  • Organize tools, materials, and job sites.
  • Support community events, volunteer recruitment, and Habitat outreach.
  • Grow as a leader while serving your community.

No previous construction experience is required, although construction experience is a plus. We provide training, mentorship, and opportunities to build your skills throughout your service term.

Members serving a full-time 1,700-hour term receive:

  • Living allowance: $20,400 over approximately 10.5 months
  • Segal Ameri Corps Education Award: $7,395 upon successful completion of service, which can be used toward qualified student loans or future education
  • Possible student loan forbearance for qualified federal loans
  • Health coverage (if eligible)
  • Access to a nationwide network of Employers of National Service
  • Valuable leadership, construction, and nonprofit experience

Housing assistance is available. Depending on individual needs, members may receive either shared housing or a housing stipend.

Schedule:

  • Full-time
  • Approximately 10.5 months (1,700 service hours)
  • Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday, depending on the job site

Locations:

  • Four positions based in Bend
  • One position serving the Sunriver/La Pine area

We're looking for people who:

  • Want meaningful, hands-on work
  • Enjoy working outdoors
  • Like collaborating with volunteers and community members
  • Are eager to learn construction and leadership skills
  • Believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build a brighter future through affordable home ownership

Together, we build opportunity.
