What is Ameri Corps?

Members serve full-time for a defined term while gaining professional experience, leadership skills, and education benefits.
As an Ameri Corps member serving with Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity, you'll help us build more affordable home ownership opportunities while developing valuable skills in construction, volunteer leadership, teamwork, and community engagement.
About Bend-Redmond Habitat for HumanitySince 1989, we've partnered with more than 250 households in Central Oregon through affordable home ownership. We build and sell homes in partnership with local families, creating opportunities that strengthen individuals, families, and our community.
What You'll DoWorking alongside our experienced Site Supervisors, you'll:
- Assist with residential construction from site preparation through finish work.
- Learn sustainable, net-zero-ready building practices.
- Lead and support volunteers on active construction sites.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
- Provide volunteer orientations and safety briefings.
- Organize tools, materials, and job sites.
- Support community events, volunteer recruitment, and Habitat outreach.
- Grow as a leader while serving your community.
No previous construction experience is required, although construction experience is a plus. We provide training, mentorship, and opportunities to build your skills throughout your service term.
Ameri Corps BenefitsMembers serving a full-time 1,700-hour term receive:
- Living allowance: $20,400 over approximately 10.5 months
- Segal Ameri Corps Education Award: $7,395 upon successful completion of service, which can be used toward qualified student loans or future education
- Possible student loan forbearance for qualified federal loans
- Health coverage (if eligible)
- Access to a nationwide network of Employers of National Service
- Valuable leadership, construction, and nonprofit experience
Housing assistance is available. Depending on individual needs, members may receive either shared housing or a housing stipend.
Schedule- Full-time
- Approximately 10.5 months (1,700 service hours)
- Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday, depending on the job site
- Four positions based in Bend
- One position serving the Sunriver/La Pine area
