Wages: starting at $40.58 per hour dependent upon experience, education and internal equity.

Job Summary

The Women's Imaging Nurse Navigator will work to enhance the patient experience by acting as a resource and providing guidance during the patient’s journey while under the care of Central Oregon Radiology. Additionally, this position will provide patient education and information, support, and community education. The WI Nurse Navigator will assist with breast and women's procedures and work closely with the breast care team to provide follow‑up care as needed, as well as additional patient support in clinic, as needed.

Non‑patient care related duties may include participation in infection control initiatives, reviewing escalated incident reports, meeting facility accreditation requirements and participating in patient safety programs.

Essential Duties

This position requires regular, reliable attendance and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, as the consequences of even a minor mistake can be significant for patients and providers. Other duties as assigned.

This position requires familiarity with the Oregon’s Nurse Practice Act (NPA) and clear knowledge of one's individual scope of practice allowing you to self‑regulate your actions by accepting and engaging in only those nursing practice activities, interventions, or roles for which you possess the knowledge, technical skill, ability, ethical principle, and clinical reasoning necessary to perform with safety.

General Duties
  • Procedural Assistance
  • Assess, monitor and assist patients before, during and after imaging procedures.
  • Assess patient safety prior to procedure and clearly communicate any concerns and patient preferences to Radiologist and technologist.
  • Provide compassionate and therapeutic emotional support to patients.
  • Document data in relevant systems.
  • Provide discharge instructions to patients and families, post procedure.
  • Draw medications. May administer medication per Radiologist protocols inside or outside of Women’s Imaging.
  • Take and record vitals.
  • Present and review pre‑procedure information in preparation of physician’s consent.
  • Consult with patients and families about their diagnosis, disease process and plan of care.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to women’s imaging patients and families, by providing education about additional breast imaging studies a patient may need.
  • Call patients with imaging exam and/or pathology results when requested by physician.
  • Communicate with referring offices as needed. Advocate for care or referrals.
  • Handle incoming calls from patients and families with questions, concerns, and complaints. Triage calls as necessary.
  • Research and respond to incident reports arising from Women’s Imaging. Watch for trends and suggest improvements when needed.

Education and Experience

Current State of Oregon Registered Nursing License (RN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is required. Current Basic Life Support CPR Certification is required. Strong clinical experience with Women’s Imaging and/or private practice background is preferred. General office practices include recordkeeping, work processing and data entry. Strong, compassionate interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of patients as well as a diverse clinical team, including physicians, technologists, registration and others.
