Salary Range: $23.50 To $39.25 Hourly
Job SummarySupports Physician and nursing staff to provide individualized and specialized care to patients in the endoscopy and spinal injection area.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDoes not oversee other staff.
Duties/Responsibilities- Assists in preparing patient for designated procedure
- Assists physician during endoscopy and spinal injection procedures
- Handles patient specimens per policy
- Accurately completes laboratory slips and culture/pathology slips
- Reports observed changes in patient condition to nurse or physician
- Restocks supplies as appropriate for the next procedure or end of day
- Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the endoscopy suite according to requirements of patient, physician, and procedure
- Follows manufacturer’s instructions for use for all steps of cleaning, high level disinfection or sterilization of instruments and/or equipment
- Terminal cleaning as assigned
- Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies
- Orients and trains new staff
- Proactively participates in QAPI and Safety Programs
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to the Code of Conduct
- Complies with center policies and procedures
- Demonstrates an attitude that is caring, respectful, sensitive, tactful, compassionate, empathetic, and tolerant
- Provides a safe environment for the patient
- Communicates safety concerns appropriately following Chain of Command
- Documents patient care records and other forms accurately, legibly and in a timely manner
- Promotes patient and physician satisfaction
- Practices aseptic techniques and sterile processes as appropriate to the endoscopy suite
- Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Observes universal precautions
- Adheres to safety policies and practices, good body mechanics and ergonomics
- Follows all rules and regulations for PHI and HIPAA protections of patient information
- Follows all policies and procedures, including attendance, timeliness, and safeguarding confidential information
- Reports incidents in a timely manner
- Promotes patient and employee safety and communicates concerns appropriately, following Chain of Command
- Attends in-service programs as requested
- Performs other related duties as directed
- Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to implement principles of aseptic and sterile technique
- Knowledge of endoscopy and spinal injection equipment use and care
- Knowledge of endoscopy procedures and basics of care to include anesthesia and potential complications
- Recognition of signs and symptoms of emergency situations and interventions
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse population professionally
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels within Bend Surgery Center and external customers, clients and potential employees
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English
- Ability to successfully write business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and professionally interact with managers, employees, physicians, vendors, and the general public.
- Basic Math skills required
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Must maintain BLS certification
- Previous endoscopy and/or spinal injection experience preferred
Physical work includes standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, bending, reaching, keyboarding, and fine manipulation. Lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance; push/pull up to 50 lbs with assistance. Certain movements may be required at varying frequencies as part of the job duties. Lifting more than 50 lbs requires an assistive device or additional physical assistance.
Exposure risk
- Determination of employee exposure risk:
Category I tasks involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
Position details
- Position is a full-time, 40 hours (10-hour shifts).
Salary note
- Stated salary in posting is the full salary range. Hiring salary cap is limited to mid-point of $28.06 per hour/ $29.56 with CER certification.
