Position Title
Per Diem Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (NNP or PA) – Independent Contractor (1099)
LocationBend, Oregon
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide per diem coverage in a Level III NICU as an independent contractor (1099). The provider will deliver comprehensive neonatal care, including delivery attendance, newborn resuscitation, NICU management, stabilization, and transport support for critically ill neonates.
Schedule- Per diem coverage based on department needs
- Day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts available
- 12‑hour and 24‑hour shifts
- No formal call requirements
- Attend high‑risk deliveries and provide neonatal resuscitation
- Perform comprehensive assessments, admissions, and daily management of NICU patients
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with neonatologists and the multidisciplinary team
- Prescribe medications, respiratory therapies, and other treatments within scope of practice
- Perform procedures including:
- Endotracheal intubation
- Umbilical venous and arterial catheter placement
- PICC placement and management
- Arterial line placement
- Lumbar puncture
- Chest tube insertion and thoracentesis
- Urinary catheterization and other neonatal procedures
- Participate in neonatal transports as needed
- Communicate effectively with families and provide family‑centered care
- Complete timely and accurate medical documentation and billing
- Graduate of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current, unrestricted Oregon NP or PA license (or ability to obtain)
- NCC, AANP, AANC, AMCB, or NCCPA certification as applicable
- Current DEA registration
- Current BLS certification (ACLS if required by privileges)
- Minimum of two years of experience practicing in a Level III or higher NICU
- Strong neonatal resuscitation, critical care, and procedural skills
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Neonatal transport experience
- Experience with quality improvement, education, and clinical leadership activities
- NRP instructor or advanced neonatal education experience
- Competitive per diem 1099 contractor rate
- Flexible scheduling based on availability and unit needs
