CORA (Central Oregon Radiology Associates) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Interventional Radiology team as a Sedation & Recovery Nurse. In this role, you will provide comprehensive patient care throughout the procedural continuum, including pre-procedure assessment, moderate sedation administration, intra-procedural monitoring, post-anesthesia recovery, patient education, and follow-up care in an outpatient setting. This position works collaboratively with radiologists, CRNAs, anesthesiologists, technologists, and other clinical team members to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and exceptional patient experiences.

Essential

Responsibilities Patient Assessment & Sedation Care
  • Perform comprehensive pre-procedure patient assessments, including review of medical history, laboratory results, ASA classifications, physician orders, and relevant comorbidities.
  • Participate in pre-procedure checklists and support the informed consent process.
  • Administer and monitor moderate (conscious) sedation under the direction of the supervising provider and within established competency requirements.
  • Continuously assess and monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, recognizing and responding to adverse reactions or complications.
  • Maintain airway patency, cardiovascular stability, and patient safety throughout sedation and recovery.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly prepared, functioning, and maintained according to manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
Recovery & Post-Procedure Care
  • Monitor patients recovering from sedation and anesthesia, including vital signs, oxygenation, and level of consciousness.
  • Identify and manage post-procedure side effects such as respiratory compromise, agitation, nausea, pain, or delayed recovery.
  • Perform post-procedural nursing care, including medication administration, dressing changes, and vascular access site management.
  • Provide discharge instructions and educate patients and families regarding post-procedure care, recovery expectations, and follow-up requirements.
  • Ensure patient readiness for discharge using established recovery criteria.
Clinical Documentation & Coordination
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record, including sedation, procedural, and recovery documentation.
  • Perform medication reconciliation and ensure medication tracking complies with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate closely with radiologists, CRNAs, anesthesiologists, technologists, medical assistants, and other members of the care team.
  • Answer and triage patient and referring provider calls related to scheduled procedures and post-procedure concerns.
  • Conduct pre-procedure and post-procedure follow-up calls as directed.
Quality & Operational Support
  • Participate in infection prevention initiatives, patient safety programs, accreditation activities, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Assist with inventory management and supply maintenance.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, referring providers, and colleagues.
  • Support a collaborative, patient-centered culture within the Interventional Radiology department.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required;
    Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Critical care nursing
    • Emergency nursing
    • PACU/recovery nursing
    • Moderate sedation nursing
    • Peri-anesthesia nursing
    • Interventional Radiology nursing
  • ACLS certification required.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Outpatient radiology or interventional radiology experience preferred.
