Retail Associate

Role Description

The Retail Associate is an on-site role based at our Bend, OR location. This position is responsible for welcoming customers, learning their needs, and providing a friendly, informed, and customer-focused shopping experience that reflects the Portland Gear brand. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with product selection and fitting, explaining product features and benefits, processing sales and returns, and maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment.

The role also involves managing basic inventory tasks such as restocking shelves, monitoring stock levels, and assisting with receiving and organizing shipments. The Retail Associate will support store events and brand storytelling, uphold shop policies and procedures, and collaborate with team members and store leadership to meet sales and service goals.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of customers and teammates.
• Customer-focused service mindset with experience delivering excellent customer experience in a retail or similar environment.
• Clear, professional communication skills for in-person interactions and basic written communication.
• Basic inventory management abilities, including restocking, organizing backroom areas, and assisting with inventory counts.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move merchandise, and work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Previous retail, apparel, or outdoor/lifestyle brand experience preferred but not required; passion for the Portland Gear brand and the Pacific Northwest is a plus.
• Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
