Assistant Director of Sales and Catering
Juniper Preserve is looking for an Assistant Director of Sales and Catering to lead our Group Sales and Event/Catering Sales teams and serve as a true right hand to the Director of Sales and Marketing. This role owns the day‑to‑day leadership of the group and catering sales team, from prospecting and contracting through event execution, and is accountable for team performance, client relationships, and departmental results.
Location:
Juniper Preserve, Pronghorn Club Dr, Bend, OR 97701, USA
- Directly lead and manage the Group Sales team and the Catering Sales team, including day‑to‑day coaching, performance management, and professional development
- Set clear expectations, hold team members accountable to production and service standards, and step in to problem‑solve when deals or events hit friction
- Serve as a secondary point of escalation for clients and staff, resolving issues before they require the Director's involvement
- Drive group, corporate, and association business from prospecting through contract signature
- Oversee the catering sales process, ensuring seamless communication between sales, events, and operations
- Personally manage a portfolio of key accounts and high‑value groups as needed
- Support wedding sales and planning as needed; prior wedding experience is a strong plus given Juniper Preserve's growing wedding business
- Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline management, and reporting in iVvy
- Identify and fix process gaps between sales, events, and operations before they become guest‑facing problems
- Partner with Revenue Management to align group strategy with overall resort revenue goals
- Represent the sales and catering function in leadership meetings and cross‑departmental planning as a proxy for the Director when needed
- Take ownership of special projects and initiatives that support departmental and resort‑wide priorities
- Bring creative solutions to recurring challenges rather than escalating every issue upward
- 5 to 10 years of sales and catering experience in a resort or high‑volume hotel/event environment
- Proven experience selling to groups, corporate clients, and associations
- Wedding sales or planning experience is a plus
- A track record of leading or mentoring a team, with the ability to coach, hold accountable, and develop talent
- Strong problem‑solving instincts and the flexibility to shift priorities as the business demands
- Excellent communication skills across guests, clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Comfort working in a CRM/catering system (iVvy experience a plus)
- A collaborative mindset paired with the confidence to make decisions and own outcomes independently
