Summary

The Site Lead is the primary front‑line security officer assigned to respond to emergencies using proper tactics, techniques, and procedures within established time constraints. The Site Lead also assists with administrative duties such as correspondence, memos, quality control, record‑keeping and accuracy of training certifications, training scheduling, CPR first‑aid scheduling, drug test and physical examination scheduling, payroll processing, time reporting, data entry, and distribution of work schedules.

Duties are accomplished by ensuring subordinate security personnel (Security Guard II) perform client services in accordance with contract requirements, posting orders, policies and procedures, as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations.

The pay rate for this position is $21.71/hour plus $5.09/hour for hardship allowances.

Applicants must possess a state‑issued guard card before being hired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a complete understanding and proficiency in all essential duties detailed in the Security Guard II job descriptions.
  • Provide guard briefings to incoming officers on current activities and ensure guard knowledge is current.
  • Visit and inspect each guard post within the first 2 hours of shift (unless responding to an incident) and document post visits.
  • Respond to incidents and other events during shifts and direct guard response activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate generation of reports required by the contract, including payroll data, training and certification records, personnel records and event logs.
  • Review investigations of reported incidents to ensure proper notifications are made to the client and appropriate corporate staff members.
  • Monitor project expenditures, including payroll costs and purchasing of supplies, to ensure compliance with the budget.
  • Schedule staff to maintain adequate coverage levels as defined in contract at all times and sites.
  • Monitor employee compliance with Ahtna safety, health and HR policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with APSI Security Program Manager and APSI Human Resources on recruiting, hiring and management of employees.
  • Ensure staff is trained in appropriate procedures to maintain security of property, equipment and personnel, including use of approved restraint techniques.
  • Assist with mentoring, training and coaching of Guards on facility and safety procedures and operational protocols.
  • Develop and maintain legible logs and ensure they are distributed according to facility procedures and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain issuance and logging of required badges or passes to authorized personnel.
  • Perform audits and inspections of all weapons, gear and equipment issued to subordinate personnel.
  • Follow up on reports of facility equipment and utility system deficiencies and repairs.
  • Assume any other duties assigned or required by client’s contract.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of armed security, military police or law‑enforcement experience AND one of the following:
    • Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or similar field.
    • Three (3) years of security experience within the past five (5) years.
    • Three (3) years of military or National Guard experience (active or reserve).
    • Successful completion of Police Officers Standard Training (POST).
  • Basic computer operating skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • State Armed Security Guard license required.
  • Fluent in speaking and writing in English.
  • Must pass criminal background screening, drug test and physical exam.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must certify under customer requirements, obtain and maintain all security clearances, and pass annual weapons qualification standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with the M4 / Remington 870 and .40 caliber platforms.
