AboutThis Role
Robinson Brothers Construction, LLC is seeking skilled Telecom/Underground Utilities Heavy Equipment Operators for a traveling crew. Our contracts span the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast, encompassing multiple states. This is a field position; travel to various job sites is expected and required.
What You'll DoThe TRAVELING Underground Utility Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment cable plows, backhoes, mini excavators, skid steers, rock saws, and other utility construction equipment to install, repair, and maintain underground utilities. The position also involves the safe transportation of materials and equipment.
Daily Responsibilities- Operate all heavy machinery safely.
- Dig trenches, back-fill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications.
- Transport materials and equipment.
- Load and unload equipment and materials as needed.
- Follow all on-site safety procedures.
- Ensure contents and equipment are properly secured during transportation.
- Comply with all DOT regulations and rules.
- Perform daily vehicle pre-trip inspections and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
- Possess a valid CDL Class A (not required, but premium pay is included if held or obtained).
- Experience operating heavy equipment and machinery.
- Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years).
- Strong focus on quality and safety.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Willingness to perform all aspects of the job, including hand digging trenches if machinery cannot reach specific areas.
This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The position operates outdoors and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The work environment will vary throughout the day across terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. Possible exposure to natural gas and risk of electrical shock, as well as moderate to loud noise levels.
Physical RequirementsThe employee must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate extreme weather conditions, speak and hear safety instructions, and repeatedly lift, stand, climb, kneel, reach, crouch, and crawl. Regularly lifting 50 pounds is required. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $25.00 per hour to USD $38.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Pay is based on the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the employee.
