Location: Bend, Oregon
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Hours: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a reputable, family-owned diesel repair shop seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Bend, Oregon. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of equipment, including light and medium-duty trucks, buses, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, generators, and more.
The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic and repair abilities, a commitment to quality workmanship, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional shop environment.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair diesel engine, electrical, hydraulic, air brake, turbocharger, and exhaust system issues
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative service on a variety of diesel-powered equipment
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble diesel engines and components
- Conduct tune-ups and replace worn or defective parts
- Operate diagnostic equipment, vehicle lifts, engine hoists, and specialized shop tools
- Perform basic welding and fabrication repairs as needed
- Test and inspect repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality and performance
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Minimum of 2 years of diesel mechanic experience or related mechanical experience
- Strong understanding of diesel engine systems and components
- Experience working on gas engines is beneficial
- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and specialty automotive tools
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Diesel Technician certification preferred but not required
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Dependable and self-motivated
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Military mechanical experience is highly welcomed
