The Solid Waste Department is responsible for the proper management of Knott Landfill and four rural transfer stations where the public, contractors and waste collection companies deliver waste for disposal at Knott Landfill in Bend. This is an opportunity to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of what is considered one of the best landfill operations in the State of Oregon.

Work schedule is variable; the facility is open seven days a week and works 4/10-hour shifts between 6:30am to 5:00pm.

Landfill Site Attendants work directly with our customers assessing and collecting fees, monitoring customer safety and assisting in control of customer movement in a busy environment. They are the primary contact that the community has with the Department and the impressions from that interaction reflect the quality of our operations and the positive customer experience.

Compensation: $23.00 per hour.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
• One (1) year of customer service experience, including data entry and payment processing;
• Or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job.

The Solid Waste Department operates a modern fleet of trucks and heavy equipment including two and three axle trucks and semi-trucks, a variety of medium to large-size loaders, excavators, paddle-wheel scrapers and water trucks. Knott Landfill is a dynamic work environment where rarely are two days the same!

Compensation: $25.75 per hour.

• One (1) year of relevant experience;
• Or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job.

Ideal candidates will be able to work additional hours and a flexible schedule when needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of the department and emergencies.
