Position Summary

Under the direction of the Logistics Operations Manager, the Hub Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of a designated transportation hub, including driver performance, delivery scheduling, safety compliance, and fleet readiness. This position ensures all fuel transportation activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.

The Hub Manager leads a team of Fuel Transportation Drivers and serves as the primary liaison between Dispatch, Fleet Maintenance, and upper management. This role plays a critical part in achieving operational excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining a strong culture of safety and accountability across all hub operations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily fuel delivery operations for assigned hub, ensuring on-time and accurate deliveries
  • Coordinate with Dispatch to optimize driver schedules, routes, and load assignments for efficiency and compliance with DOT hours-of-service regulations
  • Monitor driver logs, fuel tickets, and delivery documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure effective communication and alignment with Dispatch, Fleet Maintenance, and accounting teams
  • Track performance metrics such as delivery timeliness, fuel variance, and downtime to ensure operational goals are met
  • Manage hub resources, including trucks, trailers, equipment, and supplies
  • Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules, including weekends, mornings, evenings, and holidays as needed

Driver Supervision & Development

  • Directly supervise and support Fuel Transportation Drivers assigned to the hub
  • Conduct regular driver meetings to communicate safety updates, policy changes, and performance expectations
  • Monitor driver behavior, performance, and compliance with safety standards and DOT regulations
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate drivers to promote professional growth and adherence to company standards
  • Oversee onboarding, training, and certification processes for new drivers
  • Collaborate with the Safety Department to ensure drivers maintain current medical cards, endorsements, and compliance documentation

Fleet & Maintenance Coordination

  • Partner with the Fleet Manager and maintenance personnel to ensure vehicles are maintained, serviced, and inspected according to schedules
  • Track and report vehicle downtime, maintenance needs, and repair completion status
  • Verify that pre-trip and post-trip inspections are performed correctly and documented
  • Coordinate vehicle assignments and ensure compliance with preventive maintenance schedules

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all DOT, EPA, OSHA,FMCSA and company safety regulations and protocols
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and incident reviews to reinforce a safety-first culture
  • Investigate accidents, spills, or incidents and report findings to leadership and safety personnel
  • Ensure that spill response kits, fire extinguishers, and PPE are available and maintained
  • Maintain and submit accurate compliance and incident records in accordance with regulatory standards

Customer & Vendor Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer issues, delivery inquiries, or service escalations related to the hub
  • Coordinate with terminal operators, suppliers, and vendors to ensure smooth product loading and timely fuel availability
  • Support the accounting team in resolving delivery or billing discrepancies
  • Foster positive relationships with both internal and external customers

Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain hub records including driver files, inspection reports, delivery logs, and compliance documents
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly hub performance reports for Transportation leadership
  • Monitor and manage hub expenses, including fuel, maintenance, and labor costs, within budgetary parameters
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and reviews conducted by regulatory agencies or company leadership

Education and Work Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required;
    Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of transportation or logistics experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Experience in fuel hauling, bulk transport, or hazardous materials logistics strongly preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements preferred but not required
  • Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and EPA regulations
  • Proficiency with logistics and dispatch software (e.g., Motive, PDI, TelePoint, DTN) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
