Overview

American Civil Contractors West Coast (ACCW) delivers critical roadway and infrastructure projects for DOT and public works clients nationwide.

We are seeking a Field Engineers to support heavy civil construction projects based out of our Benicia, CA office.

Field Engineers assist with project scheduling, submittals, RFIs, quantity takeoffs, traffic control plans, progress billings, procurement tracking, and project documentation. Working closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and public agency representatives, this position plays a key role in coordinating project activities, monitoring production and costs, and supporting the delivery of complex infrastructure projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Location & Travel Details: This location-based position encompasses worksites throughout the United States and requires an average of 25% travel. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided. When overnight travel is required, meals and lodging will also be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Production scheduling
  • Handling project submittals & RFI’s
  • Tracking production & inventory, subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Coordinating & supervising varying work schedules (day/night work)
  • Drafting value engineering change proposals
  • Submitting daily reports & progress billings
  • Preparing quantity take-offs, work & traffic control plans, job & material billings, reviewing and submitting test results
  • Preparing project schedule updates
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Subcontractors, Suppliers, DOT/Public Work’s Representatives and other Prime Contractors
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction Management. Other majors may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
  • 1 to 3 years of construction related experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications.
  • Ability to multi‑task in a challenging construction environment.
  • Excellent computer skills including strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Willingness to learn, good organizational and time management skills, ability to work as a team, great communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Primavera P6 is highly desired, but not required.
  • Valid drivers license required.
