Starting Pay: $70,000 – $80,000 per year
Status: Full‑Time | Immediate Hire
Schedule: Open availability required, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Railyard Assistant Ramp Manager at Con Global, you will play a vital leadership role in overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of our railyard involving vehicle loading/unloading. Working closely with the Ramp Manager, you'll ensure operational excellence in safety, train performance, productivity, maintenance, and team development.
This fast‑paced, hands‑on role requires strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and communication skills. You will be responsible for meeting key performance indicators (KPIs), developing employee engagement strategies, enforcing company policies, managing budgets, and ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Ramp Manager in daily operations of the railyard, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and overall productivity.
- Support the achievement of operational KPIs including Train Performance, Vehicle Unloads/Loads per Hour, and Cost per Hour.
- Lead initiatives to enhance staff engagement, retention, and professional development.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with local railroad officers to ensure seamless coordination.
- Serve as the point of contact for Con Global’s customers, addressing operational concerns and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Enforce and uphold company policies, including administering disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Monitor and manage terminal purchasing to ensure alignment with budget goals.
- Approve weekly time and attendance records, ensuring payroll accuracy and timely processing.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to maintain adequate staffing levels.
- Lead the training, onboarding, and continued development of all new terminal employees.
- Generate and deliver operational metrics and performance reports.
- Perform additional administrative and operational duties as assigned.
- 3–5 years of experience in Intermodal, Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.
- 1–3 years of leadership experience in a related environment.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other MS Office tools.
- Must be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must have open availability, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Must pass a pre‑employment background check, physical, and drug screening.
- Must pass a pre‑employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
- Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.
- Open availability required Monday‑Friday with rotating weekends.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Prior experience in rail operations or safety management.
- Familiarity with KPIs such as Lifts per Hour and Cost per Hour.
- Experience managing payroll, budgets, and purchasing systems.
- Background in employee training and workforce development.
- The role requires working in an outdoor railyard environment, often in varying weather conditions.
- You will manage a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and lead a team of terminal staff.
