The role of the Youth Care Specialist Supervisor is to provide leadership and supervision of the Youth Care Specialists; including development and performance management of their direct reports, scheduling, and participation in the recruiting process. The Youth Care Specialist Supervisor is responsible for the safe and secure operations of the program, ensuring team members are in compliance with contract requirements and local, state, and federal requirements.

12 months (potential to become permanent)

40 hours per week; must be available Weekdays 4:00pm-12:00am and Weekends 9:00am-9:00pm. Workdays and weekend shifts will vary and be rotational.

• Supervise team members and youth in accordance with operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and security; notify leadership of incidents outside policy parameters; perform duties in compliance with terms of contractual agreements.
• Assist with development of work schedules; ensure coverage is maintained within required ratios.
• Provide timely performance feedback to direct reports, complete performance evaluations, and submit to ED for review; suggest applicable incentives and ensure development opportunities are provided.
• Instruct youth in the general care and maintenance of facility and equipment; supervise safe handling of program property and equipment according to policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate safety measures are observed.
• Supervisory responsibility for a wide variety of academic, vocational, and motivational activities on and off campus.
• Serve as advisor and positive role model for youth and team members; communicate necessary information to appropriate team members and supervisors/directors.
• Effective use of the Behavior Modification System by providing redirection and coaching to youth.
• May be required to dispense medication.
• Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with national standards and conduct and practice emergency evacuation procedures.
• Assist in establishing desirable youth conduct and discipline; lead or participate in positive reinforcement, interdisciplinary and/or care review meetings.
• May participate in day and/or overnight trips, special activities, and may require extended shifts or on-call status.
• Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements.
• Prevent and intervene in youth altercations and incidents, using authorized state-mandated training methods; refer advanced disciplinary issues to appropriate staff.
• Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by nationally recognized organizations.
• Attend required training and professional development events and maintain all applicable certifications and licenses.
• Operate institute vehicles as required in accordance with van policies and procedures; transport youth as needed for work-related tasks.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Six consecutive months of supervisory experience required
• Minimum one year experience working with youth; preferably within the Juvenile Justice System
