The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Operations Team working on Data Center, Vehicle Manufacturing, or General Build Construction projects.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and seamless execution of construction projects. Your responsibilities include assisting management teams with technical aspects of project management, coordinating between stakeholders, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high standards. Technical support involves participation in planning and design, interpreting designs, applying construction methods, resolving conflicts, conducting constructability reviews, and processing shop drawings.
You will also develop, implement, and administer project engineering procedures and control documents in the Prolog database, manage material reports, handle RFI process requests, and record meeting minutes.
Location
You can be located anywhere in the US, with willingness to travel long-term to client projects.
Responsibilities
- Project Execution: Ensure engineering activities comply with requirements and support construction schedules. Provide technical support including planning, design interpretation, method application, conflict resolution, and shop drawing processing. Develop and manage engineering procedures and documents.
- Budget Management: Monitor expenditure, track financial progress, and ensure costs stay within budget. Identify opportunities for cost savings and optimize financial performance.
- Resource Management: Foster collaboration, guide team members, and motivate staff to meet project objectives. Manage personnel functions, subcontractor planning, and interface with on-site departments to resolve issues and ensure quality.
- Risk Management: Represent the company in meetings with A/E, clients, and project management.
- Technical Support: Serve as the key technical person on projects, potentially managing small to medium-sized projects.
Qualifications
To qualify, you need:
- A 4-year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and experience.
- At least 5 years of similar construction engineering experience.
- Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, and an understanding of interdependent functional units.
Ideally, you will also have:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills for cross-functional coordination.
- Ability to implement innovative management strategies to improve project and employee performance.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Strong technical knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, project controls, and contracts.
- Proficiency in budgeting, financial forecasting, and resource allocation.
- Experience in risk assessment and mitigation.
- Ability to adapt in fast-paced, changing environments.
