Overview

SVMC is seeking a physical therapy team leader who thrives on both leading people and treating patients. In this split role you’ll guide a talented therapy team while delivering hands-on care.

Under the guidance of the Director of Rehabilitation Services, you will provide leadership and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the Physical Therapy Service. The team leader will assure cost-effective staffing patterns that meet patient care needs, achieve patient satisfaction and result in the best possible clinical outcomes. They oversee implementation of policies/procedures/standards, continuous quality improvement and the empowerment of the PT team.

As an outpatient physical therapist in this split role, you will be responsible for a reduced case load. You will be responsible for evaluating, developing, implementing, and documenting a plan of treatment for patients of all ages. You’ll work with individuals of all ages and conditions, from post-surgical athletes eager to get back on the field to older adults striving to maintain mobility and independence.

Candidates may choose to work at our main outpatient clinic and/or one of our satellite locations (Deerfield Valley Health Center in Wilmington, VT; Northshire Medical Center in Manchester, VT; or Twin Rivers in Hoosick Falls, NY). A weekend fair turn commitment in our inpatient department is required. The position has the opportunity to supervise physical therapist assistants and students. We encourage therapists who may be seeking an alternative working schedule as SVMC is willing to be flexible with scheduling and accommodating to varying hours.

Qualifications
  • MS degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school required. DPT is required for new grads.
  • Prior physical therapy experience with advanced skills in outpatient or inpatient rehabilitation.
  • Vermont State license to practice physical therapy required on hire.
  • Health Care Provider BLS within 90 days of hire and current CPR certification required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the Physical Therapy Service under the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
  • Ensure cost-efficient staffing patterns to meet patient care needs and achieve high patient satisfaction and optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Oversee implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and continuous quality improvement; empower the PT team.
  • Deliver outpatient physical therapy as part of a reduced case load, evaluating and documenting treatment plans for patients of all ages.
  • Possibly supervise physical therapist assistants and students; participate in flexible scheduling arrangements.
