Overview
Registered Nurses (RN) at the Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) develop and manage nursing care plans, as well as instruct patients and their families in proper treatment for the highest level of function/quality of life. We provide person-centered care and all residents/families are encouraged to be active participants. We provide clinical oversight along with a wide range of services for long-term and short-stay admissions.
The Vermont Veterans’ Home is a skilled nursing facility seeking compassionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join our team in providing care to our veterans and members with the dignity and respect that they so rightfully deserve. We are currently recruiting for evenings and nights. Shift differentials, as applicable, will apply to hours worked on weekends, evenings and nights.
This position, Registered Nurse II (Job Requisition #53521), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Any person who has had a charge of abuse, neglect or exploitation substantiated against them is not eligible under the Vermont Veterans’ Home licensing requirements. Candidates, including current State employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, or persons exercising re-employment rights, must pass a fingerprint-supported background investigation and other regulatory checks.

- Possession of, or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont or via a multi-state license AND two (2) years or more of professional nursing experience.
- Or possession of, or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont or via a multi-state license AND one (1) year or more of experience as a Registered Nurse I with the State of Vermont.
NOTE:
Must maintain Vermont licensure or multi-state license as a Registered Nurse as a condition of employment.
Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
DutiesWork primarily performed in a clinical setting. Must be able to travel off‑site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, potentially physically and verbally violent patient population and other stressful situations may occur. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises.
