A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REGISTERED NURSE (RN)
As an RN, you play a key role in assessing the needs of our patients to create and implement their plan of care. In accordance with evidence-based practices, state and federal regulations, and our company's policies, you serve as a case manager for assigned patients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Actively manage the patient's treatment and needs.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the effective integration of information.
- Take action to ensure that infection control standards are maintained and stay educated on a variety of high-tech skills, including IV use and maintenance, wound VAC, and complex wound care.
- Carry out visits with patients in a timely manner and ensure that patients and caregivers are educated on health matters
- Coordinate with a wide variety of physicians, providers, team members, and vendors in order to fulfill the recommended plan of care.
- Assist with any patient discharges or transfers and complete all the correct paperwork and reports.
- When on call you will be responsible for home care and hospice patients.
Qualifications For a Registered Nurse (rn)
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- 2+ years of nursing experience is preferred
- Have self-direction and initiative, as well as be able to work collaboratively with colleagues within the agency.
- Experienced with electronic medical records required.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including rotational weekends, holidays and on call for both hospice and home care patients.
- Exceptional bedside manner and communication skills.
- Compassionate and friendly demeanor.
- Valid Vermont Driver's License and car insurance.
